Ana Palmero

Ana is an independent ethics and legal advisor with over 15 years of experience at the intersection of research ethics, regulation, and policy. She has spent more than 10 years leading research ethics and regulatory programs at the Ministry of Health in Argentina. Currently, Ana serves as a consultant at the Ethics Review Committee (ERC) Secretariat in the Global Health Ethics & Governance Unit at the World Health Organization (WHO). In this role, she contributes to the ERC protocol review process and supports activities related to the engagement of WHO technical units in research ethics. From 2016 to 2023, she was responsible for the Research Ethics Program at the Ministry of Health in Argentina. Ana is also a member of the Ethics Review Board of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) and serves on the Steering Committee of the Global Forum on Bioethics in Research. In Argentina, she is a member of the Research Ethics Committee of Dr. Ramos Mejia General Hospital. Additionally, Ana is an adjunct professor in the Master of Molecular Biology program at the University of Buenos Aires, where she teaches research ethics and governance. She is also an invited professor in the Bioethics Program at FLACSO (Latin American Social Sciences Institute).
