Dr. Ivan Sisa is a professor of medicine at the College of Health Sciences at Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) in Quito, Ecuador. Dr. Sisa received his M.D. from USFQ. He also earned two master's degrees: one in public health from USFQ and one in clinical and translational research from Tufts University in the United States. Dr. Sisa teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in public health and epidemiology. His research interests include cardiovascular risk, nutritional epidemiology, bibliometric analysis, medical education, and bioethics. He served as the chairperson of the Institutional Review Board at USFQ for four years. In February 2023, he was honored to be accepted as a fellow of the Ecuadorian Academy of Medicine. As an academic physician in Ecuador, he has mentored dozens of medical and graduate students. The results of his research and publications have provided the evidence needed to guide the country's health research policy. Dr. Sisa currently has 38 peer-reviewed publications, including articles in The Lancet, JAMA, and the American Journal of Public Health.
