Professor Knight-Madden is a senior academic at the Sickle Cell Unit, Caribbean Institute for Health Research, The University of the West Indies. Professor of Pediatric Pulmonology and Clinical Research, she completed training in Medicine at the UWI, Pediatrics at HSC, Toronto and Pediatric Pulmonology at Duke University. She completed a PhD at King’s College, London, and a Certificate in Implementation Science at the University of California-San Francisco. Her research interests include NBS, pulmonary complications of SCD, health services and implementation research and clinical trials. She has published more than 70 peer reviewed articles, and several book chapters.
She is Chair of the Advisory Panel on Ethics & Medico-Legal Affairs, Ministry of Health & Wellness, Co-chair of the Sickle Cell Technical Working Group; VP of the Caribbean Network of Researchers on Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassemia; Chair of two NHLBI DSMBs for studies in Africa; Co-Chair for SCiF conferences, and on the ASH GDG for guidelines on hydroxyurea and EHA GDG on HbSC.
