Cai Heath

Cai is researching institutional strategies for the translation of health research into impact, as well as reading for a doctorate in Population Health, investigating the ethical and equal involvement of low- and middle-income country (LMIC) governments in international health research. He is a global health ethics researcher with over fifteen years of experience in international health research, international development, and capacity strengthening work. He has worked in a range of both research and research management roles at the University of Oxford and Imperial College London on large-scale operational health research and capacity-building programmes funded by the World Bank, GIZ, the Gates Foundation and Wellcome. More recently, he spent six months seconded into the UK's Department for Health and Social Care focusing on evidence and evaluation workstreams. Cai's background is in social science, particularly the institutional dynamics of community development. He has worked, volunteered and researched extensively in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand, India, Nepal and Kenya over the past 15 years as well as engaging in shorter project work in Ethiopia, Myanmar, Uganda and Vietnam.
