Gustavo Matta is a Senior Researcher in Public Health at Fiocruz in Brasília, where he also coordinates the Interdisciplinary Public Health Emergencies Unit and the Zika Social Sciences Network. A permanent professor in the Public Health Postgraduate Programme at ENSP/FIOCRUZ, he previously led the Social Impacts Axis at the Fiocruz Covid-19 Observatory.
His research focuses on a range of critical topics in public health, including health policies, bioethics, and social sciences in health. He is an expert in public health emergencies, primary health care, and vaccine politics, approaching these subjects from a Global South perspective. Gustavo is also a member of the Global Health Bioethics Network.
