Ivan Meidika KurniaHealth Policy Advisor, Indonesia and The London School of Hygiene & Tropical MedicineUnited Kingdom
I am a medical doctor turned full-time health policy advisor with over eight years of experience covering clinical practice, global public health response (including Covid-19), and government advisory.
Early in my medical career, I saw firsthand how illness often originates from systemic issues: poor living conditions, unequal access to care, and structural neglect. I found myself prescribing treatment only to discharge patients back into the environments that were the source of their illnesses; and the experience led me to pivot into health policy.
Today, my work focuses on the intersection of clinical realities and policy reform: bringing patient-centered insights into the decision-making processes. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Global Health Policy at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) to deepen my ability to support governments and institutions in developing equitable, effective, and sustainable health systems.
My strength lies in bridging levels: from diagnosing frontline challenges to advising national strategies contributing to global health diplomacy. I believe better health outcomes begin with better policies rooted in empathy, data, and structural understanding.
