Sualeha Shekhani
Sualeha Siddiq Shekhani holds an undergraduate degree in Social Sciences from SZABIST (2014), with a major in Psychology. She joined CBEC as a part-timer in March 2015 as a Research Assistant. During this time, she also finished her Master in Health Policy and Management (HPM) from Aga Khan University, Karachi, and her MBE in Bioethics (2019) from the Sindh Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), Karachi. Her work interests specifically are situated within the domain of qualitative research. She has published papers in the area of bioethics, and intersection of social sciences and health during her time at the centre. Her work at the Centre involves teaching and administrative activities. She also teaches sessions related to ethical issues in social sciences research in Nairobi, Kenya as part of CBEC-KEMRI Bioethics Training Initiative (CK-BTI). She is a member of Ethical Review Committees of Ziauddin University, Karachi and SIUT, Karachi. In September 2022, she was elected as the member of the Research Ethics Committee of National Bioethics Committee, the central regulatory for ethics approval in the country. She is also a core member of the recently formed group, South Asian Bioethics Community (SABC), which consists of early career scholars and researchers in bioethics and related fields within the region.
